Entertainment Voucher 13/14: 25% off (up to a value of $30)

Taylors Art & Coffee House is located on Great Northern Highway in the iconic Swan Valley region. We dropped by for lunch on the way home from Bindoon last weekend. It was Father’s Day that day so the cafe was quite packed. We asked whether we could use the entertainment book voucher as it was a special day and they said yes! Bonus!

I love the rustic outlook of the cafe! It has a huge outback area for dining with a sandpit for the kids to play in. Perfect setting for families with children! I noticed that dogs were allowed in as well.

I found this item laying on our table indicating that the table had been reserved. How cute!

The menu at Taylors is quite simple, with a selection of paninis, pancake, tarts, soup, salads and burgers. We had the following:

  • Homemade soup (Small $9) – the homemade soup that day was Mushroom Soup. It was served with chunky foccacia bread. I had a small spoonful to taste, it was hearty!

  • Savoury Tart with homemade pastry ($9, with salad $17) – the special that day was Salmon Tart.

  • Taylor Burger ($21) – Dandaragen beef patty, melted cheese, caramelised balsamic onions, tomato relish and aioli, served with salad and chips. Looked great!

  • Tasting Plate ($38 – enough for 2 to share). I ordered this to share. On the plate, there were Beersyne cheddar (locally made pale ale cheddar), double brie; organic meatballs in a tomato braise with sour cream, mini savoury tarts with smoked salmon, marinated olives and dips with toasted foccacia bread. The highlight of this dish was the meatballs, they were well marinated and tasty!

The drinks … Mocha, Cappuccino, Flat White, Iced Coffee, Iced Chocolate. I had a recent addiction to Iced Coffee and this hit the spot!

Lastly, we couldn’t resist ordering a couple of slices of the freshly baked cakes displayed at the counter. There were so many to choose from! We had the Mixed Berry and Mango Friand Cake ($7) and the Strawberry and White Chocolate Mousse Cake ($7). They tasted so so good especially the Strawberry and White Chocolate Mousse Cake – normally not a fan of white chocolate or mousse, this blown me away! I loved it!

Overall, it was a nice and simple lunch up in the valley, with friendly staff, fresh food and a very unique Australian outback setting! The highlight for me was definitely the desserts! :)

On a side note, there is a art gallery adjoining the cafe showing wildflower and landscape artworks which I failed to visit this time round. I must do so the next time I’m there!
